Who is a family caregiver?
A "family caregiver" is someone who provides any type of unpaid physical and/or emotional care for an ill or disabled loved one at home.
Family members needing care could have a variety of special needs such as any chronic or terminal physical, emotional, cognitive or mental health condition requiring ongoing care and supervision. This may include (but is not limited to) Alzheimer’s disease, developmental disabilities and extensive long-term medical needs.
Many different people can be family caregivers:
