Request for Proposals: Grant Funds Available for Respite

The Colorado Respite Care Program is seeking applications from qualified for profit, nonprofit agencies or governmental entities currently providing respite services in an effort to respond to the respite care needs of Colorado's family caregivers of individuals with special needs, chronic conditions, older adults, foster children and kinship relations (i.e. grandparent and grandchild).

Respite is planned or emergency care provided to a child or adult with special needs in order to provide temporary relief to family caregivers who are caring for that child or adult. Applicants will demonstrate the capacity to achieve positive outcomes for families in communities through planned or emergency care provided to a child or adult with a special need in order to provide temporary relief to the family caregiver of that child, adult, older adult, foster child or kinship relation.

Organizations will be awarded funds to support families in need of respite care. A local match is not required, but matches that leverage these funds are encouraged. Agencies that receive funds must currently provide respite services. The anticipated range for awards is $5,000 – $35,000. Grantees are required to provide respite care to families by May 18, 2018. All reporting requirements will be due at that time.

APPLICATIONS DUE: AUGUST 31, 2017
