Coming Up For Air

Overview

Coming Up for Air is a family respite weekend held at Rocky Mountain Village in Empire, CO (about 40 miles West of Denver).

During the weekend, children and teens are matched with counselors and participate in fun, recreational activities, while parents and guardians attend training sessions.

Past sessions have included training for caregivers, focused on stress management, self-care, accessing community resources and financial planning. Food and lodging is included. The focus of the event is to connect families facing similar caregiving challenges and provide resources to support them, while also providing respite away from everyday life.

In the past, Easterseals Colorado and the Colorado Respite Coalition have offered the weekend to families with children and teens with special needs and to kinship care, adoptive and foster families.
