Coming Up For Air

Coming Up for Air is a family respite weekend held at Rocky Mountain Village in Empire, CO (about 40 miles West of Denver).

Sessions for 2019 are currently being scheduled. Registration announcements will be posted to this page. Please call 303-569-2333 or email Jessica Garcia jgarcia@eastersealscolorado.org for more information. See the 2019 flier here.

During the weekend, children and teens are matched with counselors and participate in fun, recreational activities, while parents and guardians attend training sessions.

Past sessions have included training for caregivers, focused on stress management, self-care, accessing community resources and financial planning. Food and lodging is included. The focus of the event is to connect families facing similar caregiving challenges and provide resources to support them, while also providing respite away from everyday life.

In the past, Easterseals Colorado and the Colorado Respite Coalition have offered the weekend to families with children and teens with special needs and to kinship care, adoptive and foster families.

Family Testimonials

"The information shared by the experts as well as the other families was so valuable. The time away from the kids was so re-energizing!"

"The respite, the kids having fun, the information on resources (huge!!), the camaraderie, the other families we met, knowing we are not so alone..."

"Being given a path that will hopefully allow for a better life. Found something I did not know that could make a huge family change."
