Regional Respite Coalitions

Regional Respite Coalitions were established to have local participation from the respite stakeholders to address unique needs for specific areas of Colorado, and through collaboration, creating a statewide effort.

Regional Respite Coalitions are volunteer-led to host their own programs (including meetings or outreach) and report to the Colorado Respite Coalition, housed at Easterseals Colorado. These local groups meet quarterly to network, share resources, and strategize solutions to advance respite access and services. Regional Respite Coalitions report back to the statewide CRC to help steer future efforts.

Respite providers, community partners, family caregivers, and other interested parties are encouraged to join their local coalition.

Regional Respite Coalition Toolkit (published August 2020): We hope this toolkit will provide valuable tools for starting a new regional respite group or supporting existing efforts!

Easterseals Colorado and the Colorado Respite Coalition hosted three Regional Respite Summits in the fall of 2013 in Grand Junction, Denver and Colorado Springs. The goal of the Summits was to bring together key stakeholders in each region including policymakers, respite providers, caregivers, to discuss the state of respite in their communities and develop a plan to improve services and resources. The Summits were supported by the Colorado Trust’s Convening for Colorado program.

Attendees reported very positive feedback for each Summit and encouraged more in the future. The Summits were so successful that three new regional respite coalitions mentioned above emerged. Easterseals Colorado and the Colorado Respite Coalition currently work to build from the initial summits, establishing the regional coalitions listed below with continued expansion and growth.

Currently serving Mesa, Delta, Montrose and Ouray counties and looking to expand. Respite providers, community partners, disability organizations, and others are encouraged to attend and strengthen this coalition over the course of the coming months.

About the Summit County Respite Coalition

Currently serving Summit County and mountain region. Coalition members include respite providers, community partners, and other interested parties. The coalition's current goal is to increase the number of trained respite providers available in the area to family caregivers of any age and any special health care need. New members are always encouraged to attend.

This group works together to host an annual Community Resource Night to bring together potential respite providers, community resources, and family caregivers in the community. Through collaboration across age groups, special needs, and other conditions, this group builds a network of respite and caregiving supports.

About the Southern Colorado Respite Coalition 

Currently serving El Paso and Pueblo counties and looking to expand. Respite providers, community partners, disability organizations and other interested parties are encouraged to attend. 

This coalition works to bring together representatives serving any age and any extensive health care need, to collaborate to better serve family caregivers and professionals. With networking, resource sharing, and community information, this coalition is making a difference in the Pikes Peak region.

Currently serving Larimer, Weld, Morgan and Logan counties and looking to expand.

The Northern Colorado Respite Coalition is an organization that brings together service provider agencies, community members and family members whose goal is to improve the quality of respite resources for all of Northern Colorado. Guest speakers at meetings will include several notable professionals who are experts in the respite field. The coalition needs your input in an effort to improve respite for all. Join today!

About the Denver Metro Respite Coalition (DMRC)

Currently serving the Denver metro area and surrounding communities for respite needs across the lifespan. Respite providers, disability organizations, community partners, and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend. Representatives serving any age and any special health care need in support of caregivers are needed. 

This coalition works towards building a lifespan respite care network in the Denver Metro area.  Join the collective efforts to pull resources together towards a greater goal of supporting family caregivers across the lifespan and providing support to respite professionals.
