What We Do

The Colorado Respite Coalition (CRC) provides respite resources, information, and referrals to support family caregivers accessing respite services.

Our programs are statewide and support caregivers of people of all ages, needs, and life circumstances. Since our founding in 2008, the CRC has impacted thousands of caregivers and distributed hundreds of thousands in funding to respite providers and families.

We help families and professionals connect with respite care and caregiving resources three ways:

  • Training and education for family caregivers
  • Networking and support for professional caregivers
  • Expanding respite resources available to caregivers

Training and Education for Family Caregivers

Initiatives that work directly with caregivers to help them build a toolkit for providing care long-term without burning out.

“Stress-Busting” Educational Support Group

A nine-week course taught by a respite expert for caregivers of children with disabilities, adults with disabilities, and older adults. Join a cohort of nine other caregivers and learn how to manage daily stress and make caregiving sustainable for you and your family.

Caregiver Lunch & Learns

CRC sponsors Lunch & Learns hosted by partners such as Cardinal LLC and Compassion Works

Support for Caregivers at Partner Organizations

CRC sponsors many partner organizations that support caregivers, like an annual Caregiver Tea Party with The Caregivers Guardian and virtual caregiver yoga classes with Guided by Humanity.

Networking and Support for Professional Caregivers

We connect professional respite providers to each other, as well as regional and statewide resources and capacity building opportunities.

Regional Respite Coalitions

Regional Respite Coalitions are local groups of respite stakeholders who meet quarterly to tackle the unique needs for specific areas of Colorado. Respite providers, community partners, family caregivers, and other interested parties are encouraged to join their local coalition.

Quarterly Statewide Capacity Building Webinars

Our quarterly webinars tackle front-of-mind topics in caregiving such as caregiving youth, caregiving & the workplace, and caregiver mental health. They are also forums for providers, professional caregivers, and family caregivers across the state to connect and share resources with one another.

Expanding Respite Resources Available to Caregivers

Beyond offering “respite weekends” directly to the community, we grant agencies funding to expand their respite services and we give “vouchers” to family caregivers to assist with financial barriers to respite care.

Respite Weekends

Coming Up for Air is an all-inclusive weekend at camp for you and the person you care for. We provide respite care for your loved one. You get a chance to recharge, take educational workshops on self-care and caregiving with other parents and caregivers, and enjoy the rocky mountain air.

Financial Assistance for Family Caregivers

Family Respite Reimbursements reimburse the cost of respite care and are available for family caregivers with limited resources.

Funding for Respite Organizations

2023-2024 State Respite Grant funds qualified for-profit, nonprofit agencies or governmental entities currently providing respite services.
